Project WHY

ProjectWHY (www.projectwhy.org) is a non-governmental not-for-profit organization engaged in education support and life-skills enhancement of slum children and their families. It was created in May 1998 and aims at creating an enabling environment to help underprivileged children and youth to access better earning options. ProjectWHY’s classes do not seek to replace mainstream schooling - the provision of educational support is its goal.

Project FAME

Foundation for Action Motivation and Empowerment (FAME INDIA) was started by Mr. N.S. Raghavan and Mrs. Jamuna Raghavan with five students, one special educator, one part time physio therapist and an attendant in 2001. FAME started with a focus on lesser privileged children with neuro- muscular disorders residing in the southern part of Bangalore. Additional facilities such as, a glass of milk and biscuits for lunch and pick up/drop van facility was provided at school for the students. In 2007 FAME created a self employment platform for the students above 18 years of age.

Project Rajugela

 

About India School Fund:

The India School Fund (ISF) is a non-profit organization started by five Harvard Business School (HBS) students in 2005. ISF opened its first school in 2005 in Rajugela, Uttar Pradesh (UP) for more than 250 children. ISF's mission is to ensure effective delivery of education and drive entrepreneurship to break the vicious cycle of poverty in rural areas of India.

Project Oorani

Sir.C.V.Raman, the renowned Indian physicist, rightly said that water is the elixir of life. Clean water is indispensable for leading a healthy life. But there are over 800 million people in India1(over two times the population of United States) without this basic necessity. The World Bank also states an alarming figure - 21% of the communicable diseases in India are related to unsafe water. It naturally becomes important to address this situation. Over the past decade, the phenomenal industrial advancement in India has helped improve drinking water facilities in many cities.
